Wolfgang Stein is an underachiever and over thinker. This is where he keeps his writing so he can be motivated to keep writing. See his other work here.

The water is almost never blue

The water is almost never blue

Unless the sky is blue

And even then, it rolls or ripples

Something dark below

Mysterious lake

Sunrise it is slate gray

with a ribbon of pinkish orange

Sunset it is purplish pink

with wispy clouds reflecting

In the glass

Until a skiff makes ripples

Black lines draw out

Like a sand dune

an hour glass

Marking time

The water is every shade of green

Trees and leaves and things

of land

In fall oranges, reds where the maples and oaks

sit close to shore

The water is white

Foaming caps

Spitting poison

The water is blue

Well, this time it’s blue

with peaks of breezy mountains

a topographic map with stars overlaid

Sparkling sparkling sparkling

Dead Things
