Wolfgang Stein is an underachiever and over thinker. This is where he keeps his writing so he can be motivated to keep writing. See his other work here.

Softness is not weakness

I am the soft underbelly of a dog
I am fluid like water
Water erodes rock
It just takes longer
I must have patience
I am a coral reef that is dying
Just under the surface
Look but don’t touch
I am a cave with its stalactites harvested
Dark, damp and hidden
I am a scurrying creature
Foraging for prickly pear
I crushed my ego years ago
All I am is skin and bone and blood
I am a spark
I use my mind for other things worth thinking about
Things that make you laugh, cry, open your eyes
I am mushy
I’m the smooth mud between your toes
My spirit has silky flyaways
They move into the clouds so as not to ground me too much on earth
I look back and go back
To disrupt the status quo
In a quiet rebellion
To love more, see more, listen more
And be
I am me

Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.
